Event Based Image Sensors
EVS
Event-based Vision Sensors (EVS) help alleviate this issue by only sending data from pixels who have detected a change in intensity. This allows them to minimize the volume of data that is transmitted over the sensor’s data bus while minimizing the processing resources need to analyze the image. On top of this, individual pixel autonomously responds to illuminance changes allowing the sensor to detect small and/or high frequency changes with lower bandwidth requirements.

FRAMOS SLVS-EC RX IP CORE
Sony’s SLVS-EC interface standard has emerged as the best high speed interface to Sony’s best image sensors, enabling higher throughput, greater signal integrity, and simpler designs. Engineers developing solutions using Xilinx FPGAs and SoCs can take advantage of FRAMOS’s SLVS-EC RX IP Core, Evaluation Board and tested source code examples. Device builders and camera vendors can de-risk the design while reaping the benefits of Sony’s latest high-speed interface.

Global Shutter Image Sensors
Global shutter sensors have a fast and high-resolution capture of the entire field of view. Each pixel on a global shutter sensor completes its exposure simultaneously. This feature allows them to freeze motion in captured images. Each pixel will not only have the same integration time, but they will start their integration at the same time across the entire sensor. This exposure and detection scenario makes this type of sensor easier to synchronize with a flash or other external event.

GMSL3
FRAMOS is the first company in the market to integrate Analog Devices’s new GMSL3 technology into an embedded vision environment. GMSL3 can transmit high frame rates (4K, 90 fps) as far as 14 meters with unprecedented efficiency. This interface is well suited for applications where the MIPI CSI-2 (D-PHY) length restrictions are not sufficient, while at the same time, a highly durable cable with low power consumption and low cost are essential. Camera developers can use the flexible FRAMOS Sensor Module Ecosystem to validate a variety of image sensors in the lab and in the field while taking advantage of the interface’s features.

Rolling Shutter Image Sensors
Rolling Shutter devices start and then stop their exposure line by line. This means that that each line will be recorded at a slightly different exposure time. This effect is pronounced for short exposures which produces images with distortion due to moving objects and short flashes of light.

SWIR Image Sensors
Though NIR and SWIR act similarly to visible light, they are not visible to the human eye. As a result, these spectrums present valuable information which can show artifacts or damage that would otherwise not be seen. Click here to see some examples of how SWIR is being used in existing applications today.

ToF Image Sensors
The ability to measure objects at a distance to determine how far away they are and/or their overall dimensions is becoming more popular in Imaging. With this, there are several different techniques and technologies, each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Picking the right one can be daunting without someone in your corner to help decipher your needs and direct you to the best product to meet them.

SONY'S Pregius Technology
CMOS Global Shutter
Its outstanding performance, success, and large consumer capacity were among some of the triggers resulting in Sony’s decision to shut down their CCD sensor development and production, despite their technology and market leadership. The Pregius technology series combines the image quality from its technology with high readout speeds, an electronic global shutter and the low noise EXview HAD II Technology from the CCD designs.
