Autonomous Underwater Glider
Slocum Glider
The Slocum glider is buoyancy driven to enable long range and duration remote water column observation for academic, military, and commercial applications. The Slocum Glider can be deployed and recovered from any size vessel with minimal time on station. Once the Slocum glider is deployed, it can easily be controlled from anywhere in the world through the use of web based piloting tools. This allows fleets of gliders to be operated remotely with minimal personnel and infrastructure.

APEX BioGeoChem
APEX BioGeoChem (BGC) is Teledyne Webb Research's (TWR) most requested sensor configuration after the basic Argo float. TWR begins with our field proven APF-11 controller, aluminum hull, lithium primary batteries, and Seabird SBE-41CP CTD. We added an Aanderaa (AADI) model 4330 dissolved oxygen optode and a WETLabs FLbb (chlorophyll_a and backscatter) to complete the package. If needed TWR can substitute either the WET Labs FLbbCD or a Triplet for the FLbb.

APEX Deep Autonomous Profiling Float
The APEX Deep is the first commercially available autonomous neutrally buoyant drifter rated to 6000 meters. APEX Deep, a patented combination of a depth-rated glass pressure vessel and buoyancy engine, carries sensors such as the Seabird SBE-61 and AADI 4330 to new depths. APEX Deep is another example of TWR's commitment to the world's ocean and climate research communities. Designed, tested and built entirely with Internal Research & Development (IRAD) funds, no taxpayer money or government sponsored research laboratories were used to bring this truly commercially available product to market. Available now in baseline configuration with Sea-Bird's new SBE 61CP CTD and AADI's model 4330 optode. TWR's development of APEX Deep continues with integration of an altimeter to avoid and keep station off the bottom, more energy, and new sensors such as Seapoint Turbidity and Turner Designs Cyclops 6K.

Buoyancy Engines
The Slocum G2 glider is pressure rated to 1000 meters. The buoyancy engine is available in both a deep and shallow configuration. These are optimized for maximum efficiency based on the depth of operation. We are available to help determine what would be most efficient for your operations. An exciting feature of the G2 design is that one vehicle can be configured for any of the available depth ranges by a simple replacement of the front end of the glider. This is easily field replaceable. For shallow gliders only, the ballast drive can also be easily replaced to change operational depth. This is an exonomical way to increase the mission capabilities of your glider. For the deep gliders, the forward section can be replaced with a shallow buoyancy engine.
