It has the spectrally flat broadband coating and covers the spectral range from 0.19 to 20µm. The sensor comes with a standard 1.5 meter cable for connecting to a meter or PC interface.

The camera is precisely located at the build plane so that an accurate power density model of the working laser beam can be made. A beam splitter directs a small percentage of the beam to the camera, while the majority of the beam is directed to the integrated power sensor. From these measurements an accurate beam spot size and power density can be derived.

    The FluxGage is a compact measuring system for LED Luminaires. Instead of an integrating sphere that must be several times larger than the luminaire being measured, the FluxGage can measure any luminaire that fits into its opening. The FluxGage measures total flux, color (CCT, CRI, Duv, chromaticity) and flicker. It measures the total flux using solar panels instead of an integrating sphere thus delivering the same functionality in one third of the size. An onboard spectrometer and fast photodiode complete the system and provide color and flicker measurement.

  • Integrating Spheres

    Integrating spheres are used especially for measuring divergent light sources such as LEDs. The light is introduced through the input port, then reflected many times by the highly reflective interior of the sphere until it illuminates the inner surface uniformly. A detector samples a small fraction of this light to measure the total power input. Ophir integrating spheres have a highly reflective diffuse white coating for measurements independent of beam size, position and divergence. There are several sphere sizes, apertures and wavelength regions available. The large IS6 series has 2 configurations for measuring divergent or parallel beams (see diagram).

  • Laser Photodiode Sensors

    Photodiode sensors have a high degree of linearity over a large range of light power levels: from fractions of a nanowatt to about 2 mW. Above that light level, corresponding to a current of about 1 mA, the sensor saturates and reads erroneously low. Therefore, most Ophir PD sensors have a built-in and removable attenuator allows measurement of up to 3 W without saturation.

  • Laser Thermal Power Sensors

    Thermal sensors have a series of bimetallic junctions called a thermopile. Radial or axial heat flow through the sensor creates a voltage proportional to the power absorbed as it flows through the thermopile. The reading is not dependent on the ambient temperature since only the temperature difference is measured and not the absolute temperature. The thermopile elements are so arranged that the reading is almost independent of beam size and position. Generally, Ophir specifies ±2% or better uniformity of reading over the surface.
