The clear assignment of a signal to a terminal while maintaining the existing instrumentation and wiring is a major advantage of remote I/O . A second is the significantly reduced wiring through the use of a bus interface to the control system - remote I/O offers the best of two technologies and is therefore ideally suited for modernizing and expanding process plants.
