Arc-flash detection technology significantly decreases the time it takes a relay to trip in response to an arc fault, thereby reducing hazardous incident energy. Combining light-sensing technology with fast overcurrent protection provides high-speed arc-flash detection and prevents overtripping for external faults. Arc-flash protection relays work with low- and medium-voltage apparatus and easily coordinate with other devices in utility-, industrial-, and commercial-scale power systems.
