For stopping in emergencies, EN ISO 12100‑1 stipulates protective devices and supplementary measures such as E‑Stop buttons or emergency rope switches. The E‑Stop buttons are used wherever it makes sense to be able to enter a stop command at a specific location. E-Stop rope switches are used for larger danger zones.
