Auto-test BIT is performed for a short duration on the application of power and tests more than 90% of the Bit Synchronizer components. This test verifies that power is properly applied, verifies that there are no internal bit errors, and performs other tests to ensure that the bit synchronizer is fully operational with status indication of results. Command-test BIT performs the same functions and can be initiated by the user at any time through the Lumistar software when used on Lumistar PC products. The user has the ability to generate internal pseudo-random patterns and calculate internal bit error rates with or without the injection of forced errors.Various status indicators are also available through the software. The Bit Synchronizer also contains a BER reader as well as frame sync pattern indicator.

This test method covers procedures for the determination of dielectric strength of solid insulating materials at commercial power frequencies, under specified conditions. Unless otherwise specified, the tests shall be made at 60 Hz. However, this test method is suitable for use at any frequency from 25 to 800 Hz. At frequencies above 800 Hz, dielectric heating is a potential problem. This test method is intended to be used in conjunction with any ASTM standard or other document that refers to this test method. References to this document need to specify the particular options to be used. It is suitable for use at various temperatures, and in any suitable gaseous or liquid surrounding medium. This test method is not intended for measuring the dielectric strength of materials that are fluid under the conditions of test. This test method is not intended for use in determining intrinsic dielectric strength, direct-voltage dielectric strength, or thermal failure under electrical stress (see Test Method ASTM D3151). This test method is most commonly used to determine the dielectric breakdown voltage through the thickness of a test specimen (puncture). It is also suitable for use to determine dielectric breakdown voltage along the interface between a solid specimen and a gaseous or liquid surrounding medium (flashover). This test method is similar to IEC Publication 243-1. All procedures in this method are included in IEC 243-1. Differences between this method and IEC 243-1 are largely editorial. 6000 Series Digital I/O Modules
Series 6000 digital I/O modules record signals from frequency counters, flow meters, encoders, discrete transducers, IRIG time, etc. which are often part of the test environment. These digital signals are time aligned and recorded alongside the system’s analog measurements. High density digital inputs provide an opportunity to easily include facility controls like switches, valve positions, relays, lights, etc. along with the test data. Series 6000 digital I/O modules also provide outputs generated by user command or automatically by Sequence, Alarms or DSP. User generated outputs are accomplished in software while sequencers can be programmed prior to a test and initiated by program or hardware control. Alarm conditions preprogrammed on the analog side can automatically generate digital outputs which are typically connected to facility control systems or PLCs. A DSP adds powerful real-time processing and is appropriate for PID control loops, derived parameter calculations and a variety of other real-time operations.

Post Silicon Validation Solutions
Post-silicon validation (PSV) of first silicon tends to be an ad hoc process, stitching together protocol testers from various manufacturers to create test cases and debug issues. While IC’s are getting to market, the process is far from ideal. Leveraging the tools and methodology of pre-silicon verification into post-silicon validation is a key enabler to higher productivity. Test IP-based PSV is a paradigm shift from the way post-silicon validation is currently done. Individual protocol testers, scopes, miscellaneous equipment from various vendors, and on-chip logic are cobbled together in an attempt to create meaningful stimulus, response checking, and debugging.The problems with these ad hoc solutions:Protocol boxes from multiple vendors generally do not work together well. Each has its own driver software, programming model and debugging tools.Tool flows from pre-silicon to post-silicon to production and back are nonexistent. This makes writing tests challenging and thus generally limited in robustness. Also, debugging suspected problems is difficult across more than one interface.
