For series connected multijunction cells, at a given spectrum (e.g. AM 1.5 or AM 0 for space solar cells), one of the cells will limit the current in the series connection of cells. All solar simulators deviate from the true AM 1.5 spectrum, and they are only classified in wide spectral bands (100nm width). So even for class A or A+ solar simulators, it can easily happen that the bandgaps of the multijunction cells are such distributed that the 'wrong' cell will limit the current, if a solar simulator with fixed spectrum is used. In the 70s and 80s, when these measurements were first developed, intercomparisons showed deviations of cell efficiency in fixed spectrum solar simulators of more than 40%.

Testing for electrochemical migration (ECM) would occur in the case of a field failure return. Metal migration between isolated conductors on a completed printed circuit assembly may produce electrical shorts.Why does this growth occur and what do you need to look for? Basically, we need to know if our assemblies are “dirty.” By dirty, we mean littered with ions. Ions on printed circuit assembly surfaces can cause short circuits. In simple terms, shorts occur when the space between the conductors is bridged by dendrites formed by re-deposited metal ions. This metal migration is best described by IPC as a reverse plating of the conductors in the presence of ions, water and an electrical potential.

They are available in miniature designs, as traditional s-type versions, as transducers with different thread forms or as low-profile force transducers (pancake). Transducers in miniature design are used for small mounting spaces and also for detecting small forces. The s-type with female thread, which is very well suited for this purpose, features a particularly high accuracy and is used in rated load ranges of up to 50 kN. For measuring high forces, tension/compression force transducers in compact size are the first choice. For low-profile force transducers, the force is transmitted via the centrical female thread. They are highly dynamic and possess a high fatigue strength.
