These probes allow isolated and floating measurements with any oscilloscope or data recorder, whilst the oscilloscope can remain grounded. Using a DP150 or DP200pro probe, differential and floating measurements can be made on a variety of ac power systems like 230V/110V ac input power supplies, chopped and switching power supplies, thyristor controllers, variable speed motor drives (PWM signals), motor inrush current and measurement across current shunts. The isolated input is made via two 4mm/banana safety sockets. The BNC output allows easy connection to an oscilloscope. The DP probes can be powered from a 9V battery or external power supply.

The software will automatically open the Solar Simulator shutter, perform the test and close the shutter after the test is complete. The design is modular in nature and can be easily upgraded. The Kelvin Probe measurement has resolution of 1 - 3 meV for a 2 mm tip on a conducting sample. The sample is mounted on a plate that is located on a motorized (x, y, z) translator attached to a stainless-steel vacuum chamber. Phi 4 also comes with a photoemission spectroscopy system with a tuneable source (3.4 - 7.0 eV). The deep ultra-violet (DUV) light spot measures approximately 3 x 4 mm. Absolute work function measurements can be obtained with this system in the range of 4.0 - 6.5 eV with an accuracy of 0.05 - 0.1 eV.
