The Model 8515-D is a medium-energy, high voltage, and capacitor discharge type ringing demagnetizer capable of desaturating Ceramic and Rare Earth magnetic materials. The Model 8515-D is easily adapted to a wide range of production and laboratory demagnetizing requirements. A modern solid-state electronic control circuit, coupled with a rugged, heavy-duty discharge SCR and fixture, make this demagnetizer a highly reliable, low maintenance unit. The electronic voltage control circuit prevents the Model 8515-D from being discharged before the preset energy level has been reached, avoiding incomplete magnet desaturation. An easy to read front panel meter monitors the capacitor voltage. The energy storage level can be easily changed in the field. Integral electrical interlock and fail-safe circuitry provide a high degree of operator safety.

The Powder Brake Dynamometer (PB Series) contains, as its name suggests, a magnetic powder. The electrical current passing through the coil generates a magnetic field, which changes the property of the powder, thus producing a smooth braking torque through friction. They are ideal for applications operating in the low to middle speed range or when operating in the middle to high torque range. Like Hysteresis Brakes, Powder Brakes provide full torque at zero speed. Like the Eddy-Current Brake Dynamometers, the PB series are water-cooled, allowing for power ratings up to 48 kW. The PB Dynamometers have accuracy ratings of 0.3% to 0.5% full scale ( 2% for PB 2.7), depending on size and system configuration. The I-V Curve Data Acquisition includes a fixture for holding cells for testing (see Figure 1 below). This fixture can accommodate cells from small to up to 100 mm x 100 mm. Adjustable cell stops, in the X & Y-axis, are provided to consistently locate the cells for testing. Two micro-manipulators are provided as shown in Figure 1. Each micro-manipulator has two spring loaded contacts to allow 4-wire measurement even for cells that have top contacts only. Two back-side voltage contacts are embedded in the Plate (galvanically isolated from the Plate) and make good electrical contact when the cell is held down by vacuum to the plate. All voltage and current probes are gold-plated. The cell is held down with vacuum during testing (built-in vacuum pump).
