Linear Variable Differential Transformers (LVDTs)
Whilst there are several ways to measure displacement, the Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) remains a popular transducer in most industrial applications. LVDTs initially were used as a means of taking dimensional readings in laboratories. They gained popularity in a wide variety of industrial monitoring and control applications, and whilst an LVDT is used to measure displacement the technology can be employed within other transducer types.

LVDT Sensor Amplifiers
Analog Devices signal conditioning ICs, together with linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs), can be used to convert mechanical position to a dc voltage. The IC provides both the excitation for the LVDT and the output conversion to dc level with a user selectable gain. ADI LVDT signal conditioners are available to interface with a wide range of LVDTs, including half bridge and standard 4- and 5-wire.

Digital LVDT sensor ZET 7111-L
ZET 7111-L is a digital LVDT displacement sensor. It requires no special adjustment and starts measuring right after power is on. Displacement measured values are transferred in digital form via CAN interface. The LVDT digital sensor consists of a primary transducer (LVDT sensor) and a measuring element (ZET 7111-L unit). The LVDT sensor converts meaured object (to which it is mechanically connected) linear displacement into electric signal to be further transferred into displacement values by the measurement module.

High Accuracy AC Reference Source
515
Clarke-Hess Communications Research
The Model 515 High Accuracy AC Reference Generator fills a need for a relatively low cost and practical solution for supplying a reference excitation to typical LVDT and Synchro/Resolver transducers. The Model 515 has built-in load sensing which, in effect, yields "zero" output impedance and virtually eliminates the effects of fluctuating output loads. With up to 15 VA of output into loads with as much as 80 of phase shift, the Model 515 is ideally suited to driving inductive loads.

VDT/Resolver Simulation Module for SLSC
Bloomy's VDT/Resolver Simulation Module offers eight channels of variable differential transformer (VDT) sensor simulation at an unmatched price point. Its highly-flexible nature allows each channel to be configured independently for simulation of a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT), a rotary variable differential transformer (RVDT), or a resolver. Versatile, separate E1 and E2 returns allow each channel to be connected in a 4-, 5- or 6-wire configuration. The included VeriStand SLSC driver also allows each channel to simulate two 4-wire sensors where shared excitation is acceptable.

LD5
A linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) is a type of electrical transformer/transducer used for measuring linear displacement (position). A counterpart to this device used for measuring rotary displacement is called a rotary variable differential transformer (RVDT). The RVDT is like an LVDT in that it measures a positional displacement, however, the displacement, which is still a linear proportional function, is based on rotary instead of linear positional movement.

DLx
Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) and Rotary Variable Differential Transformer (RVDT) are transformer-type voltage/current transducers that convert a linear/rotary movement of a core/shaft to a multi-wire differential AC electrical signal. Both deliver signals linearly proportional to the position of a shaft (magnetic induction core). An LVDT/RVDT simulator is used to convert digital positional commands to corresponding AC signals.
