Optical Power Monitor Instruments
MPA-100
MPA-100 is a highly integrated rack mountable model of pigtailed photo-detectors. Multi-channel optical power from MPO or MTP connectors are measured. Photo-detectors of Silicon type for 850 nm range and InGaAs type for 1260 - 1610 nm are available. The detected photo-current is converted into a voltage output using a 16-bit multi-channel DAQ interface. The dimensions are (W) 482.6 x (D) 430 x (H) 44 mm. The highly integrated MPA-100 is available up to 80 channels with an excellent cost performance and small footprint. The MPA-100 is useful for many 40 GbE / 100 GbE applications, such as testing and monitoring of transceivers (SR4, SR10, LR4, and ER4) for data communications, broadband / CATV, and telecommunications. McGan Technology’s MM513 electrosurgical insulation defect detector is a compact, hand held, battery operated unit that tests the integrity, such as pinholes, cracks or defects, of the insulation of electrosurgical instrument in order to prevent inadvertent tissue burns which may occur during electrosurgical instrument procedures. The integrity of the insulation of electrosurgical instruments can occur over time, through normal surgical use, through the accidental contact with a sharp instrument or the rubbing of the insulation to the point of abrading it. The insulation failure provides an alternate pathway for the current to leave the instrument’s electrode usually beyond the sight of the surgeon which will result in the unintended tissue burn. Using an electrosurgical test equipment maintenance program can greatly reduce the number of these inadvertent burns during electrosurgical procedures.

Handheld Tachometers
The handheld tachometer is a means of measuring revolutions within the industrial sector, either optically or mechanically. The handheld tachometer can be used for maintenance and calibration of machines that have moving parts. The principle is similar to a bicycle speedometer, where time will be measured until a wheel has completely turned. The handheld tachometer has two different measurement methods.The handheld tachometer may have a contact connection to the moving parts. Alternatively, the handheld tachometer works with reflecting marks. This will be secured on the moving part. As the laser strikes the reflecting mark during rotation, it will be reflected and detected in the handheld tachometer via a sensor. Rotation speed and speed can be seen on the handheld tachometer. A compact and affordable water sampler system carrying up to 10 water sampling bottles of 2 L and/or 5 L was designed to be used in many different conditions, including in small vessels equipped with a crane (we recommend a crane that is able to lift at least 300 kg). The system has a built-in pressure sensor, but it was also designed to be equipped with our CTD instrument from ASTD series that allows for more options of sensors to be used and simplifies upgrades when necessary. The CTD and the water sampling bottles can be easily attached and/or detached from the frame which allows for different configurations and also an expedite maintenance.

Brakemeter / Dynometer
The Brakemeter / Dynometer is a hand-made precision instrument that mechanically measures both deceleration and acceleration. The instrument consists of a finely balanced pendulum, free to respond to any changes in speed or angle, working through a quadrant gear train to rotate a needle round the dial. The dial is black with silver white graduations and has a linear length of 5 1/2 inches (114 mm). The unit is filled with a special fluid which damps out all vibration. Other than a calibration every 2 years, which is carried out by Bowmonk, no maintenance is necessary.
