  • Smoke Detector Tester

    Solo 365 - Detectortesters

The fire industry’s most popular range of detector test equipment is about to get even better. Solo, the test equipment used world-wide to functionally test fire detectors has a new tester in its range – Solo 365. This exciting innovation provides fire safety professionals with an array of stand-out features which make for faster, simpler and cleaner functional testing of smoke detectors. Key features include automatic generation of smoke which ensures only the amount of smoke needed to activate the detector is produced – minimizing smoke wastage and eliminating the risk of detector contamination. In addition, Solo 365 is light in weight and has a slim-line design which allows easy access into tight spaces – making it possible to test detectors which are hard to access with other portable testers. In response to market feedback, Solo 365 features an LED torch which automatically illuminates when light levels drop, making for easy detector alignment and testing in dark environments. Smoke is generated via newly designed smoke cartridges which fit neatly into the rear of the tester. With no reliance on pressurised aerosol cans, the cartridges can be easily shipped and stored and are unaffected by new regulations, set for 2018, which will affect availability of some pressurised smoke aerosols.

  • Power Supply

    CAEN

The Power Supply Systems are the heart of any experiment. They provide the High voltage and Low voltage required by the detectors and by the related front-end electronics. The quality of the power supply is critical to obtain the best performance from the set-up. The sensibility of modern detectors, in fact, make them susceptible to any even small variation in the power supply, and so features like low Noise, low Ripple and high stability become essential in the design of a performing power supply system. Strong of 40 years of collaboration with the most important research labs worldwide CAEN offers today sophisticated High Voltage Power Supply and Low Voltage Power Supply Systems. The demonstration of this successful long-standing tradition is the “CMS Crystal Award 2009” that CAEN received for the development and production of the power system for the CMS tracker.

  • Alpha Spectroscopy

    ORTEC

Alpha spectroscopy is used to identify and quantify radionuclides based on the alpha particles emitted in the decay process. Similar to Gamma Spectroscopy, energy spectra are generated with high precision detectors and electronics and analyzed with special software. Typically, samples are measured following chemical separation to isolate the radionuclides of concern due to the complexity associated with correcting for these interferences with spectrum analysis software as is common for many Gamma Spectroscopy measurements.

Thanks to SiTek's proprietary AR-coating, optimized around 860 nm, a reflection loss of only 2% is achieved around the responsivity peak. Most of the detectors have a cover window to avoid handling damages.

  • Charge Integrator Amplifiers

    AD8488 - Analog Devices Inc.

Analog Devices’ charge integrator amplifiers convert the charge acquired by X-ray or photodiode detectors to a voltage. The channels are composed of CMOS transistors, using typical high input impedance CMOS gates. The integrators generate charge dependent voltages using a range of selectable capacitance values that accommodate a broad range of input charge values. The integrators are followed by single-ended input to differential output voltage amplifiers where offset and low frequency noise voltages are subtracted from the input voltages.
