Transformer Ratio Meters
Handheld Turns Ratio & Winding Resistance Tester TWR-H
TWR-H is a handheld, battery operated, fully automatic test set specially designed for turns ratio, phase shift, excitation current and winding resistance measurements of transformers. It can also perform demagnetization of these transformers. Transformer turns ratio is determined by applying AC voltage across high voltage winding, accurately measuring AC voltage across the corresponding unloaded transformer winding, and then displaying the ratio of these voltages. User can enter a transformer’s nameplate voltages, so that turns ratio deviation can be calculated. This feature eliminates any error otherwise caused by an operator’s manual calculation. TWR-H compares measured turns ratio with the nameplate ratio and prints out the % of error for each test. Transformer winding resistance is determined by injecting DC current through a winding, accurately measuring DC voltage across the winding, and then calculating resistance as the ratio of voltage and current. The device generates true DC ripple-free currents. Both the injection of the current and the discharge of energy from transformer magnetic circuit are automatically regulated.

Standard Ross high current switches are built with 80 to 120psi air cylinder actuators. Air cylinder or motor operated for high contact force. Arcing contacts optional for closing current. G-10 epoxy glass laminate is standard insulation on most models. G-7 silicone glass is used on models available for RF applications above 100kHz. Most Ross high current switches are available with additional lengths of insulation, where the high voltage contacts need to be spaced at a greater distance from the actuator and control circuit. Voltage withstand value is at least doubled and the interrupt capability is much greater when high current switches are immersed in insulating oil, fluid or SF6 gas. Pulse Characterization Sensors provide the ability to see and measure the temporal characteristics of pulsed and CW laser beams. Ophir Fast Photodiode Detectors are designed to convert optical signals into electrical signals which are then measured with third-party instrumentation such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers. Accessories are available to connect to IS6 integrating spheres or fiber optic cables. Attenuating filter accessories are also available to increase their dynamic range. Different models offer silicon, UV enhanced silicon and InGaAs PIN photodiodes, covering a combined spectral range of 193 nm to 1700 nm. Rise times range from 25 picoseconds to 3 nanoseconds. The fast rise times are achieved by an internal reverse bias voltage circuit. Power is supplied by internal batteries and/or an external power supply depending on the model. Detectors should be connected to a 50Ω impedance in order to maintain their nominal rise times. They can be connected to higher impedance loads, but this will result in a significant increase in the rise time. If higher output voltage is required, it is recommended to connect the detector to a trans-impedance amplifier with an Input impedance of 50Ω

Physitemp’s Thermes high accuracy data acquisition system has been redesigned to create a more versatile USB model. The new system requires no internal connections to your computer and simply connects via an external USB port on your laptop or desktop computer. Two versions of the data acquisition system are available. The standard version, THERMES USB, is connected to your computer USB port. The wireless version - THERMES USB WFI, can be either directly connected to a USB port or, with the included wireless receiver, positioned up to 100 feet from the host computer. Physitemp’s original Thermes high accuracy ISA based data acquisition system has been redesigned to create a more versatile USB model. The new system requires no internal connections to your computer and simply connects via an external USB port on your laptop or desktop computer. Two versions of the data acquisition system are available. The standard version, THERMES USB, is connected to your computer USB port. The wireless version - THERMES USB WFI, can be either directly connected to a USB port or, with the included wireless receiver, positioned up to 100 feet from the host computer. Each unit will accommodate up to 7 type T thermocouple sensors and multiple Thermes units may be connected to the same computer for more thermocouple inputs. A high accuracy electronic cold junction compensation circuit maintains typical system accuracy of ±0.2°C over an ambient temperature range of 15 to 35°C.
