  • Metals Analyser

    Vulcan - Oxford Instruments plc

Vulcan is the fastest metals analyser available, taking just one second to measure metal alloys - that’s faster than any XRF (X-ray fluorescence) analyser or any other laser product on the market. In quality control and quality assurance this means that large inventories of incoming raw materials or finished parts can be checked very quickly. Large quantities of scrap metal can be sorted in scrapyards easily and fast. Vulcan offers high performance and guarantees very high accuracy and precision for its analysis results. For example, when analysing aluminium, it not only provides the commercial grade of aluminium but also its accurate chemical composition. As Vulcan is so simple to operate, possible user error has been significantly reduced if not almost completely eliminated, so the results obtained from analysis will be reliable and consistent.

  • MSX® Thermal Camera

    FLIR TG165-X - Teledyne FLIR

  • Handheld Tachometers

    PCE Instruments

The handheld tachometer is a means of measuring revolutions within the industrial sector, either optically or mechanically. The handheld tachometer can be used for maintenance and calibration of machines that have moving parts. The principle is similar to a bicycle speedometer, where time will be measured until a wheel has completely turned. The handheld tachometer has two different measurement methods. The handheld tachometer may have a contact connection to the moving parts. Alternatively, the handheld tachometer works with reflecting marks. This will be secured on the moving part. As the laser strikes the reflecting mark during rotation, it will be reflected and detected in the handheld tachometer via a sensor. Rotation speed and speed can be seen on the handheld tachometer. The handheld tachometer may combine both possibilities (contact and non-contact connection). Next to the handheld tachometer you find other devices for measuring revolutions at PCE Instruments.

  • Femtosecond Fluorescence Upconversion & TCSPC Extension

    Harpia-TF - Light Conversion Ltd.

HARPIA‑TF is a time-resolved fluorescence measurement extension to the HARPIA‑TA mainframe that combines two time-resolved fluorescence techniques. For the highest time resolution, fluorescence is measured using the time-resolved fluorescence upconversion technique, where the fluorescence light emitted from the sample is sum-frequency mixed in a nonlinear crystal with a femtosecond gating pulse from the laser. The time resolution is then limited by the duration of the gate pulse and is in the range of 250 fs. For fluorescence decay times exceeding 150 ps, the instrument can be used in time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) mode that allows for measuring high‑accuracy kinetic traces in the 200 ps – 2 μs temporal domain. HARPIA‑TF extension is designed around the industry leading Becker&Hickl® time-correlated single-photon counting system, with different detector options available.

  • PLD Systems

Pulsed Laser Deposition - Neocera, Inc.

Is a versatile thin film deposition technique. A pulsed laser (~20 ns pulse width) rapidly evaporates a target material forming a thin film that retains target composition. This unique ability of stoichiometeric transfer of target composition into the film was realized first by the research team led by Dr. Venkatesan at Bell Communications Research, NJ, USA, nearly 30 years ago while depositing high temperature superconducting (YBa2Cu3O7) thin films. Since then, PLD has become the preferred deposition technique where ever thin films of complex material compositions are considered. Another unique feature of PLD is its ability for rapid prototyping of materials. The energy source (pulsed laser) being outside the deposition chamber, facilitates a large dynamic range of operating pressures (10-10 Torr to 500 Torr) during material synthesis. By controlling the deposition pressure and substrate temperature and using relatively small target sizes, a variety of atomically controlled nano-structures and interfaces can be prepared with unique functionalities.
