    Autonomous RTUs are power network independent devices, opening up new horizons for telemetry in off-grid areas. An autonomous RTU features in measuring capabilities and contains a wireless MODEM for data and alarm transmission. The device is commonly powered by an internal battery and is housed in a IP66 to IP68 enclosure for outdoor use. The battery lifetime requirements extend from few months to 15 years.     The MacArtney LOTUS buoy system consists of a spherical buoy corpus made from durable GRP, a turbidity sensor with antifouling wiper, a rechargeable battery pack and a data logger with integrated telemetry modem. The buoy is equipped with an “AQUAlogger 210 TYT” turbidity sensor provided with 4 measuring ranges selected automatically. To avoid biological growth on the optical window, the instrument is equipped with an antifouling wiper. The sensor is protected by a cage firmly attached to the buoyant body.The buoy and the data acquisition system has an open architecture that allows for integration of other types of sensors like CTDs, fluorometers, etc.

  • Virtual Receiver/Exciter Generalized Simulator

    Electromagnetic sensors include a “front-end” that generates and receives the electromagnetic waves through a subsystem known as a Receiver/EXciter (REX). They also include a “back-end” that performs signal and data processing, typically implemented in software. These separate subsystems must be designed and developed separately, then integrated together. The development of the overall sensor is slowed and complicated by the problems that show up for the first time at integration testing. This is due in large part to the interdependencies of these subsystems that cannot be effectively tested during development. Later, software patches, configuration upgrades, waveform changes, and technology refresh become substantially more expensive because they can only be verified by traveling to the operational site to connect with the actual front-end hardware.

  • Sensor for Filament Inspection

    EVT presents the EyeFI - the sensor for the inspection of filaments. The sensor contains two cameras with an Aptina sensor and S-Mount lenses. The cameras are perpendicular to each other. It is therefore possible to inspect two sides of the filament, which means that the EyeFI can detect if the filament is out-of-roundness. Additionally the errors and defects can be detected. For example the occurring flaws are point-shaped or partly flaked, or point-shaped and transverse, or also looking like a longitudial rib, or only spots in different shapes. The defects can be detected with the EyeFI sensor. The EyeFI contains board cameras with sensors from Aptina, the IoCap and an evaluation processor. The housing is about 14x10x4 cm in size. The IoCap is the image-capture-IO-board, which is designed and developped by EVT.
