  • Test Equipment

    Southern Photonics Ltd

Southern Photonics designed and manufactured all the test equipment currently being manufactured by Coherent Solutions, as well as equipment for non-telecoms applications. This includes FBG strain interrogators, optical pulse phase analysers, OSNR meters, optical power meters, optical spectrum analysers, optical gas sensors… you get the idea. All test equipment we build is robust and easy to use. The picture shows some of what we can do – anything from prototype benchtop test gear (as in the combination ASE source and laser combiner on top of the stack) to field test equipment (the portable fast OSA on the bottom).

  • Portable optical DO meter

ARO-PR - JFE Advantech Co., Ltd.

The Portable optical DO meter makes use of the fast-response optical DO sensor RINKO, maintaining its high-speed response performance (99% response < 7sec). The meter probe is equipped with a temperature sensor close to the sensing foil, and the measurements are made by simply inserting the probe into a DO sample bottle (the calibration is carried out using the National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) certified traceable gases standards). Differently from galvanic electrode sensors, the instrument does not require water sample stirring or fixing reagents, since there is no oxygen consumption. Thus, the required time to estimate dissolved oxygen is considerably reduced. The display unit shows the output instantaneously, and you can check the measured values in real time.

  • Pre-programmed autonomous water sampler

    AWS1000-2L / AWS1000-5L - JFE Advantech Co., Ltd.

A compact and affordable water sampler system carrying up to 10 water sampling bottles of 2 L and/or 5 L was designed to be used in many different conditions, including in small vessels equipped with a crane (we recommend a crane that is able to lift at least 300 kg). The system has a built-in pressure sensor, but it was also designed to be equipped with our CTD instrument from ASTD series that allows for more options of sensors to be used and simplifies upgrades when necessary. The CTD and the water sampling bottles can be easily attached and/or detached from the frame which allows for different configurations and also an expedite maintenance.

  • Logger version 2-D electro-magnetic current meter for deep ocean

    INFINITY-Deep AEMD-USB - JFE Advantech Co., Ltd.

INFINITY-Deep is an autonomously deployable data logger for current speed measurements in the deep oceans. The currents in the deep oceans are very weak. It is too hard to accurately measure the deep water currents by some ADVs (Acoustic Doppler Velocimeters) that detect the Doppler-effect by scatter with the suspended particles in the water, because the concentration is very low. INFINITY-Deep measures 2-D current data through a magnetic field according to Faraday's law. Therefore, even if the suspended particles do not exist around the sensor, it can provide the accurate current data. The depth rating is 6,000m. Compared to INFINITY-EM, the instrument has a depth and a tilt sensors to monitor mooring status. Also, the battery capacity doubles for long-term current velocity measurements.

  • Water quality profiler with optical fast DO sensor

AAQ-RINKO - JFE Advantech Co., Ltd.

The water quality profiler, AAQ 1183 has been redesigned as AAQ-RINKO with an optical fast response (63% response in water, 0.4 s) DO sensor, RINKO. Conventional water quality profilers with a slow response DO sensor require holding the instrument for a certain period at the measurement depths. AAQ-RINKO makes vertical measurements possible with a profiling speed of 0.5 m/s, similar to CTD observation, thereby significantly reducing the observation time. In addition to conductivity, temperature, depth, chlorophyll, turbidity, DO and pH, AAQ-RINKO also enables simultaneous installation of PAR (Photosynthetic Available Radiation) and ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) sensors. The processing unit is available in three types in accordance with the observation applications.

  • Ultrasonic Sensor

    CH-101 & CH-201 - Chirp Microsystems, Inc.

Tiny millimeter-sized ultrasonic Time-of-Flight sensor is 1/1000 the size of conventional sensors. Ultralow power ultrasonic sensor consumes only microwatts while performing ultrasonic echolocation. This enables always-on sensing for wake-on-approach application for tablets, notebooks, monitors, smart locks, security cameras, and other smart-home devices even when they are running on battery only. Chirp offers an easy-to-use ultrasonic software library (USL) that provides 2D and 3D position tracking using Chirp’s proprietary hardware. Chirp has developed proprietary and patent-pending gesture classification library (GCL) based on machine learning and neural network algorithms. Ultrasonic sensing solution provides millimeter-accurate range information.

Utilizing the comprehensive line of Signet installation fittings, sensor alignment and insertion depth is automatic. These versatile, simple-to-install sensors deliver accurate flow measurement over a wide dynamic range in pipe sizes ranging from DN15 to DN900 ( to 36 in.), satisfying the requirements of many diverse applications.

  • Wind Turbine

    HTW5.2-127¸HTW5.2-136 - Hitachi, Ltd.

As is an inherent in the physics of a downwind configuration, the stronger the wind, the larger the clearance between the blades and the tower by blade flexion. This results in a lower probability of a tower hit. In case of stand still mode, downwind turbine switches to a free yaw operation mode and wards off the cross wind by the weather vane principle without yaw control even in case of black out conditions. This, in principle, reduces overturning moment to the foundation or floaters and maintains high degree of safety. That is important especially for offshore projects. Also, the wind sensors installed at the front of the blades give a more precise wind direction and speed in the upper stream. Yaw and blade pitch shall also be modulated to the right angle for more production.

  • Wireless Load and Force Measurement

    Wireless ELF - Tekscan, Inc.

  • TEV Antenna

    Techimp HQ S.r.L

TEV sensor is a partial discharge sensor whose working principle is based on a direct Capacitive coupling with a Switchgears earthed metal case. The two ends of TEV sensor can be coupled magnetically to virtually any opening on a metal Surface. It picks up the electric signal given by PD activity onto the two metallic surfaces. Thanks to its special design has high sensitivity, larger than other single ended TEV sensors. His compact and robust design (passive sensor) makes the TEV the optimal sensor for direct installation on medium voltage Switchgears.

  • Thermal Fire Sensor for Rolling Stock

    RSX-F - FLIR Systems, Inc.

The FLIR RSX-F is an intelligent sensor that provides advanced, non-contact fire detection on passenger and cargo trains. Combining a Lepton™ thermal imager, HD camera, and advanced on-board analytics, FLIR RSX-F can detect fires more quickly than conventional sensors, while also performing with lower false alarm rates. FLIR RSX-F not only detects and recognizes a rapid rise in temperature, but also the size of a fire and the movement of hotspots. And because it can filter out unwanted temperature events—such as the lighting of a cigarette—FLIR RSX-F also reduces the rate of false alarms.
