Model 6700U -
Teledyne Analytical Instruments
Teledyne’s 6700U leverages ultraviolet absorption (UVA) detection to measure for certain dissolved organic substances in water treatment and wastewater applications. Absorption of UV light at the 254 nm band is an indication of the presence of disinfection byproducts (DBPs), tri-halo methanes (TTHM) and halo-acetic acids (HAA). The 6700U provides an on-line measurement without reagents and utility gases required.

Shimadzu Corp.
MALDI is the abbreviation for "Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization." The sample for MALDI is uniformly mixed in a large quantity of matrix. The matrix absorbs the ultraviolet light (nitrogen laser light, wavelength 337 nm) and converts it to heat energy. A small part of the matrix (down to 100 nm from the top outer surface of the Analyte in the diagram) heats rapidly (in several nano seconds) and is vaporized, together with the sample.

SICK Sensor Intelligence
Luminescence sensors detect visible and non-visible marks that illuminate when using ultraviolet (UV) light. Fluorescent material and marks are reliably detected independently of their pattern, colors or surface conditions on any material. Luminescence sensors emit UV light with a wave length of approximately 375 nm. Fluorescent substances convert the UV light into long-wave visible light, which is then received and evaluated by the luminescence sensor.

Model N400 -
Teledyne Advanced Pollution Instrumentation
The Model N400 Ultraviolet (UV) Absorption analyzer uses a system based on the Beer-Lambert law for measuring low ranges of ozone in ambient air. A 254 nm UV light signal is passed through the sample cell where it is absorbed in proportion to the amount of ozone present. Periodically, a switching valve alternates measurement between the sample stream and a sample that has been scrubbed of ozone. The result is a true, stable ozone measurement.
