    K706 - Innovative Integration

    The K706 Digital Transceiver supports one FMC-1000 plug-in module providing two antenna inputs and four independent channels of DDC, two channels of DUC, and one spectrum analyzer embedded in a Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA. It supports monitoring and/or recording of wide- or narrow-band spectra or channelized IF band data. The transceiver supports contiguous recording at 160 MByte/s until running out of disk space. Each DDC has its own programmable tuner, programmable lowpass filtering, gain control, and decimation settings, supporting output bandwidth up-to 100 MHz. Data is packetized in VITA-49 format with accurate timestamps, synchronous to an external PPS signal. Each DDC channel can be enabled and disabled on the fly to conserve host computer storage and bandwidth. An embedded power meter monitors the power (dBm) of the ADC inputs, supporting analog gain control of optional, user-supplied external front-end devices.

  • Full Band Noise Figure and Gain Test Extenders

    Full band noise figure and gain test extenders are offered to extend noise and gain measuring capabilities up to higher millimeterwave frequency ranges. These extenders are designed to interface with noise and gain test systems that have an input IF of 10 MHz to 1.6 GHz, such as the industry standard Keysight 8970A/B, N8975A and Maury MT 2075B. The noise figure and gain test extenders include a high-performance, solid-state noise source (STZ series) and a full waveguide down converter (STC series), which consists of a Faraday isolator (STF series), full band mixer (SFB series), frequency multiplier, and IF amplifier. A frequency source with an output signal in the frequency range of 10 to 20 GHz is required as a local oscillator for the down converter. The noise source is automatically powered on and off by the noise figure meter.

    Yokogawa Meters & Instruments Corporation will add an entry-level model, the AQ1000, to its range of OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer) test instruments. The new model will be launched for sale outside Japan on April 13th. The new instrument complements the company’s mid-range AQ1200 Series and the high-end AQ7280 Series, and is specifically designed to increase the productivity of field personnel working on the installation and deployment of optical access networks such as Fiber To The Home (FTTH): the so-called “last mile” to consumers’ premises. The worldwide use of these optical access networks is increasing dramatically as the FTTH network structure is more and more adopted by the telecom operators, and optical fibers replace the copper cables in each household. Consequently, more and more installers will be working on fiber-optic deployment over the last mile. These installers will not need high-end OTDRs capable of measuring over hundreds of kilometers in the core network. Instead, they will need affordable OTDRs equipped with all the features which can make their job easier and faster: instruments like the Yokogawa AQ1000.
